I’ve learned something today
  • The iron triangle of software development describes the trade-off between scope, time, and cost, where fixing all three inevitably impacts quality. It is relevant because successful projects require flexibility in at least one of these factors to avoid delays, budget overruns, or poor outcomes.
  • AI maxxers are a subculture of mostly online, efficiency-obsessed individuals who use AI to automate work, income, and daily life in pursuit of maximum personal gain. The movement is about pushing optimization to the extreme by turning life into a largely hands-off, AI-driven system aimed at wealth, productivity, and control.
  • An individual contributor is a professional who delivers value through their own expertise and execution without managing people, as an alternative to the management track focused on leading teams and organizational responsibilities. Many professionals prefer this path because it offers greater autonomy, less political pressure, and a better balance between meaningful work, compensation, and personal life.
  • An online fashion and lifestyle platform sees value in AI-generated product images because it can overcome casting frictions such as unavailable models in specific sizes, last-minute cancellations, limited diversity in body types or ethnicities, and the challenge of finding suitable models for niche categories like pregnancy clothing. By generating images with AI, the platform can flexibly showcase diverse body types, styles, and scenarios at scale.
  • Subsidized AI is accelerating the adoption of GenAI by making powerful automation artificially cheap. This encourages companies to replace human labor and build deep dependencies on these tools. The risk is that once prices rise to reflect true costs, businesses may face higher expenses without the workforce flexibility they once had. As a result, value and profits may increasingly shift toward AI providers.
  • In the article “How The Sparkle Icon Became The Universal Symbol For AI” by Jurgen Gravestein, published January 15, 2026 on Substack, the AI sparkle is described as a visual metaphor that has become a common symbol for AI services. The sparkle builds on long-standing cultural associations with magic and wonder, signaling ease and enchantment, while subtly shaping user perception away from the hidden labor, data, and infrastructure that make these systems work.
  • There’s a Five Guys burger restaurant just a few steps away from the venue:
